Welcome to the Bristol University Near Eastern and Mediterranean (BUNEM) Collections
The Bristol University Near Eastern and Mediterranean (BUNEM) Collections comprise more than 500 artefacts from the Mediterranean region, providing a useful resource for the study of Mediterranean material culture. This online database/catalogue and workbook allows the collection to be presented and studied in its entirety for the first time. Greater access to the BUNEM collections in a VLE will enable greater understanding of its existence, content and pedagogical potential within and outside the University of Bristol.
These introductory pages offer some background to the collection, its formation and composition. Please spend some time exploring the information provided here, particularly if you are a University of Bristol student, as this will help to contextualise the data presented in the Reference collection.
The complete catalogue of ceramics and other small finds can be found in the BUNEM Reference Collection link, which contains detailed catalogue entries and digital images of each item within the BUNEM collection. These records will gradually be augmented with additional data through students researching the collection over time.
University of Bristol students utilising the BUNEM collections for teaching and assessment need to follow the link to register at the top of the page, and then request a BUNEM Workbook from the link at the foot of the page.
